Grohe: Award-winning design and quality fittings that last a lifetime

Grohe is well known for its beautifully designed, contemporary bathroom fittings, but a commitment to customer experience and quality is just as important to the company as aesthetics – which means that you’ll be investing in the best money can buy.

Award-winning design for bathrooms
Grohe’s bathroom fittings collections – Cosmopolitan, Contemporary and Authentic – each has a distinct look designed to suit every style of contemporary room. Always ahead of trends, the technology-led collections include – to name but a few – sleek, shapely taps for basins and baths, slick angular shower fittings that allow you to personalise your home spa experience, hi-tech, Japanese-style shower toilets and streamlined complementary accessories, such as smart towel rails and robe hooks.
But don’t just take our word for it – how does Grohe rank amongst its peers for design? Well, just take a look at the growing list of design awards it has bagged – so far.
In 2007, Grohe was given a red dot ‘best of the best’ award for Grohe Ondus®. Since then, the company has reaped a further 26 red dot awards, including three more ‘best of best’ – for Grohe Ondus® Digitecture (2009), the Grohe Rainshower® Icon hand shower (2010) and the Grohe F-digital Controller (2011) – proving to both the industry and customers that outstanding design was a fundamental.

Then, in 2011, the Grohe design team was selected to receive the highest accolade in the field of product design - the red dot ‘design team of the year’ 2011/2012. Recognised globally as a mark of distinction, it made Grohe the first company in the sanitary industry to be honoured with the award since its introduction in 1988.

Long-lasting quality
So, we’ve established that Grohe’s bathroom fittings are made to look beautiful. But better still, those good looks are assured not just for now but for decades to come. How? Grohe uses state-of-the-art technology and rigorous testing to deliver exceptional quality finishes that last.

For example (and here comes some science), their physical vapour deposition process ensures that the fittings’ surface composition is three times harder and 10 times more scratch-resistant – so whether you are choosing a sophisticated stainless steel finish or one in glistening gold, it will look as good in years to come as it does on the day it is installed.

But it’s not just the products’ perfect looks that are put through their paces. Everything – from the various components to the fittings’ ease of operation – is thoroughly tested, too. That means brassware, showers and thermostats and all the components that go with them have to endure the simulated effects of 20 years’ daily use – with especially hard water.
Grohe is happy to admit that their products outperform their own – as well as international – quality standards – but have they won quality awards to add to their growing collection of design gongs?

The answer, of course, is ‘yes’. In a durability test conducted by an independent German testing and inspection services provider TÜV SÜD, Grohe’s Eurodisc won against nine other prestigious competitors. In a survey by LGA Qualitest GmbH, the Grohtherm 3000, 2000 and 1000 thermostats each took first place among 17 thermostats from European manufacturers, with the Grohtherm 3000 the overall winner scoring top points in four categories. Last but not least, the Grohe plant at Hemer in Germany was among the winners of the Best Factory competition organised by a leading German business magazine – for production and logistics, for customer focus and innovation.

Technology-led bathroom fittings
Design and quality are just two of the cornerstones of Grohe’s ethos. Another is a commitment to using the latest technology to create bathroom fittings that bring you the best home spa experience possible. Find out more in our technology feature.
