# St James Collection brings contemporary flair and traditional elegance to King Street Townhouse

by [Tamsin Allen](https://www.foamandbubbles.com/bathroom-advice-ideas/author/tamsin-allen), on Feb 20, 2018, 2:09:00 PM

As part of a group of hotels under the Eclectic Hotels banner, the [King Street Townhouse](http://www.eclectichotels.co.uk/king-street-townhouse/) does not disappoint. A hotel of the finest quality, it mixes contemporary flair with traditional elegance with home comforts. It is indeed a true gem of a project.

**Project Brief**
King Street Townhouse, in Manchester’s upper King Street Conservation Area, reopened to a fanfare of praise. The year long renovation on the Italian Renaissance building (which was designed by Mancunian architect Edward Salomons and originally built for the Manchester Salford Trustees Bank in 1872) has resulted in a class act of a hotel. The aim of respecting the existing architecture while creating a contemporary ‘baby grand hotel’ has certainly been met. The 40 bedrooms and suites with exquisitely fitted bathrooms are luxurious, while still being comfortable; there are afternoon tea lounges, a south-facing terrace with views of the Town Hall and, to top it all off, an rooftop infinity spa pool. Just heavenly.

And, with all this prestigious luxury, who better to partner with than Marflow’s [St James Collection](https://www.foamandbubbles.com/brands/show/st-james-collection) for the brassware. From the solid brass and chrome plated taps, shower roses and mirrors, to the engraved personalised (yes, we said personalised!) bath fillers, it’s just one luxury after another.

It’s no wonder that King Street Townhouse has already won Trip Advisor’s Top 25 UK Travellers Choice Award for 2017, as it is certainly one of our top choices.

**Foam & Bubbles expert verdict:**
What a place to relax and unwind. I can’t even really think of it as a hotel – it looks more like a private members’ club or at best, someone’s home. It is this mix of pure luxury mixed with home comforts that is so magnetic. The St James Collection sits perfectly in this environment but with all this luxury on tap, I’m not sure I’d ever leave my room!
