How to Bring the Outdoors In

by Tamsin Allen, on Jun 6, 2018 5:40:00 PM

We believe bathrooms are never boring or standalone - if you can design your bathroom with a theme that will also be relevant in the rest of your home, it takes your home from good, to even better. This month’s trend is all about bringing the outdoors in and it’s: Greenery.

The Greenery trend really started back in 2017 when Pantone revealed their colour of the year as Greenery. It symbolised new beginnings and a new need for people to get back to nature after an over-consumption of technology. Yin and yang in life, if you will. Now, we love technology (and you are going to be seeing a lot of tech advances on our website which will make your bathroom buying process even easier) but we all recognise the need to slow down sometimes and appreciate the beautiful world around us.

The Greenery trend in 2018 is much more physical than just colours though – it actually brings plants into the home and encourages us to immerse ourselves in nature. As well as in living spaces, this works particularly well in bath and shower rooms where plants thrive in condensation.

In this beautiful bathroom, they have brought nature indoors with the large windows, oak wood panelling and with a large indoor tree; we also love the foliage and rock styling at the base of the bath. All of which would make you feel like you are bathing outside (or pretty close to anyway).

But it got us thinking…this is all great when you live somewhere exotic or where your bathroom is big enough for large indoor trees, but what about us urban dwellers? We may not have the biggest bathroom but we can still have a stylish bathroom. And we may only have buildings to look out onto, which is even more reason to bring the nature indoors. Below we’ve put together a mood board for how we would interpret the Greenery trend.

As you can see, regardless whether you have a bathroom or just a shower room, you can fit in greenery. The best plants for bathrooms are lush, large-leaved rubber plants, ferns and succulents. Ferns are particularly good if you don’t have a lot of light in your room. On a shelf, windowsill or on a side table next to the bath, we’re sure you’ll agree that this is one trend we can all get into.
