Don't forget storage
From baby's bath toys to teenager's makeup, from Dad's shaving paraphernalia to Mum's bath treats, the family bathroom gathers a lot of accessories. Lots of storage is therefore necessary to keep everything tidy and easy to find.
Make it child-friendly
Install helpful modern items like soft-close toilet seats (to save trapping small fingers) and thermostatic shower valves (to keep the temperature even). And plan space for a small step-up stool so that little ones can reach the basin. Including a bath and non-slip floor tiles will also help make bathtime easier and safer.
Mind the morning rush
If you have the space, double basins and a separate shower are a really helpful and will halve the time it takes everyone to get ready.
Banish wet towels
Don't ruin that beautiful bathroom space with wet towels left everywhere - install a heated towel radiator to dry towels and keep them hung out of the way.
Style still matters
Even though it needs to be a functional, well-planned space, don't forget style when planning your family bathroom. Take colour and period cues from the rest of your house and you will create a beautiful and stress-free space.
